Supply chain transparency is not standard practice in the skincare industry. Brands buy ingredients from distributors who buy from brokers who buy from producers. By the time an ingredient reaches a jar, the people who actually created it have been invisible for a long time.

We are building Two Leaf Baby differently from day one. Every supplier we use will be documented on this page — who they are, where they operate, how they treat the people who do the work, and why we chose them specifically.

A community-sourced operation rooted in Ghana.

Baraka Shea Butter is a fair trade certified company that sources raw shea butter directly from Ghanaian women using traditional hand-processing methods. Every order supports those women and their families directly — not through a long chain of distributors and brokers.

Why We Chose Them

We can point to who made your baby's lotion.

We did not want to buy shea butter from a US distributor who bought from a broker who bought from a cooperative somewhere in Ghana. That chain is long and the women at the beginning of it end up invisible. Baraka removes that chain entirely. The shea butter ships from Ghana. The women who processed it are documented on Baraka's website and Instagram. We can show you who made your baby's lotion. That matters more to us than a lower price from a warehouse in New Jersey.

Who They Are

A cooperative connecting organic farmers directly to global markets.

The Coconut Cooperative connects fair trade, organic coconut farmers across Southeast Asia to ingredient buyers worldwide. They personally traveled across the region to vet their farmer relationships — this is not a broker operation. Every product they supply has a traceable origin and a certified farming family behind it.

Where Our Coconut Oil Comes From

Sri Lanka's Coconut Triangle.

Their virgin coconut oil comes primarily from the Coconut Triangle near Colombo, Sri Lanka — one of the most historically significant and productive coconut farming regions in the world. The same region where Ayurvedic practitioners have been using coconut oil for infant care for over a thousand years. This is not a coincidence. It is the reason we chose them.

Why We Chose Them

USDA Organic, Fair Trade USA, and Kosher certified — three independent third party verifications of their sourcing and farming standards.

Direct farmer relationships — they built these connections in person across Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Not a distributor sourcing from whoever is cheapest.

Sri Lanka primary origin — the Coconut Triangle near Colombo has one of the richest traditions of coconut cultivation and use in the world. The cultural provenance matches the ingredient's history.

Consistent with our Ayurvedic sourcing story — we tell customers that coconut oil's use in infant care is rooted in Ayurvedic tradition. Our supplier is from the same region that tradition comes from.
